Oh crop! . . .

I wish I had shot this to include more of the bench!

and this one, perhaps less of the grass and angled a bit higher to include some of the beach.

I frequently struggle with either including too much in the shot making the focal point mute; or cutting in too close, leaving myself with little room for creativity. No matter how often I attempt to remind myself to view things in terms of thirds, my mind skips the math and latches onto what makes me go ooh or awe.

  3. I like the bench as it is. Weirdly, I think the last shot breaks the 3rds rule. The sun seems to be hitting at exactly the bottom 3rd of the sky, which seems just right to me. Technically, it's not at a 3rd down from the whole photo, but the sky seems to take up 2/3rds. It just seems to work the way it is, and I really, really like it!

  4. Nicki, when I prepare my photo for the web, I end up with a photo 72 ppi, 10.722 x 7.125, 772 px x 513 px. I believe the template I'm using in blogger is Minima Stretch. Do you know what the template is that you're using? I usually create a "fake" blog to mess with changes before I do it on my actual blog. . . you might want to see if you can change your template to minima stretch, and see if it will let you use the 900 px size in this "experiment" blog. Good luck! Tell me what you figure out!
