I can't make this crap up!

picture if you will, you're standing by the railroad tracks photographing a fine young man
when to your right there is this ...

here is the kicker . . .
these are 2nd generation racers.
many years ago my husband came home one day and said,
"you'll never believe what I saw today. "
"drag-racing dogs!"
just two dogs racing each other down the middle of the road.
no vehicle or rabbit leading the way.
reaching a point (predesignated, perhaps) and then easing up beside each other in a slow trot.

and I didn't believe him.
that is until I witnessed the elderly dogs doing it again several days later.

and now this.

must be a special breed.

  1. What a great capture. Looks like sibling rivalry to me. Having two sons of my own, and a husband with two brothers, I know how that need to keep testing themselves continues...it may mellow a bit, with age, but underneath there is still that competitive current flowing.

  6. They remind me of the dear I saw yesterday ( that I wasn't able to capture through my lens) romping and playing chase with each other - it was quite endearing!!

  7. Funny - wonder what is going through their heads.

  8. Maybe they were tracking something ?? My little yorkie tracks squirrels all the time. No squirrel in sight but she can smell them and follow their trail.

  9. Worries me that they are loose like that -- is that a busy road?

    Great capture! :)

    1. There is enough traffic on this road that it also bothers me that people continue to let their animals run freely.
