touch of rain ...

I don't know (or can't recall off the top of my head this morning) the name of this plant. My husband's aunt gave me one or two starts years ago and now I have 6 or more of them around the yard. Nice filler with an attractive flower, unfortunately the flowers only stay briefly - even shorter than a tulip or iris. In fact, I'm shocked they were still on the stems after yesterday's hard rain.

This picture was only moderately sharpened (or unsharpened as the case were) for the web.
Taken through the window with screen, from the dry indoors, with my 70-300 lens
(I don't care what anyone says, that is a very good lens).
The muddled green background is from the golf course across the street.
How cool is that!

ETA:  yucca plant - as soon as I hit 'publish' I remembered.  they are yucca plants.

  1. Your yucca plant is pretty. I shoot with a Canon 70-300 and find it to be quiet good.... now I hear the 75-300 canon is good only in good light.

  2. Love the photo and the surreal feel from shooting through the screen. I don't have that lens, but the results of using it look good to me.

  5. That's a fantastic pic, Nicki! I didn't even think to get out my camera while it was raining today. I guess I should have.

  6. I like the feel that shooting through the screen gave this! If it's a yucca, no wonder it doesn't hold up well in the rain. By the way, your daylily shots are GORGEOUS. I am still weeks away from seeing mine.

  7. I'll have to try shooting through my window and screen! This is so pretty. I love the softness of it along with the shining droplets of water.

  9. This is just lovely! I really need to get out my 70-300 and shoot flowers with it more. Maybe today's the day. :)

  11. "Yucca", The name just doesn't do justice to the pretty plant! Some days, I love my 70-300, but other days, I'm just drooling over the idea of a 70-200 2.8. Maybe a Tamron, because the Nikon is way beyond what I should hope for. Sometimes I think I should sell my 70-300 to get the 70-200, but don't know if I'd miss the reach. . . .
