Sweet * nothings . . .
The theme for this week's photo challenge is sweet. I thought of all the sugar bowl and creamer sets that have managed to find their way into my home and wondered to myself - why? I realize there was a time when it was customary to have a sugar bowl and creamer politely displayed on the counter/table/service tray but not necessarily in my adult life. All the same, I am responsible for buying at least one set and hanging onto another that was a wedding gift - despite the fact that I never use them (maybe once in 20 years). And still I can't part with them. One lump or two?

Lovely shots. I love the reflection in the last one.
ReplyDeleteLove the first one with the doiley!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sweet. It is funny how we hang on to things that we rarely use.
ReplyDeletewe all have thing we can't part with, i know i do.....love the reflection and comp on that second one, great shots :)
ReplyDeleteI like mine too. But I do use the sugar bowl. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing with teapots. Sometimes it's nice just to have things around that give us pleasure to look at, nothing more :)
ReplyDeleteI have the francesan desert rose set also! Yours looks so nice and well preserved.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a sugar and creamer set but we don't drink coffee or tea. Great composition on these!
ReplyDeleteI really like the second shot with the reflections in the dark wood surface. Nice job!

What pretty sets. I will take 2 lumps please.
ReplyDeleteWell I think they make great decor even if you don't use them. Great shots and I usually take just one lump please..
ReplyDeleteMost of my customary unused kitchen items were wedding gifts too. That first set is adorable.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sets! No lumps for me!
ReplyDeleteYour first photo definitely brings back sweet memories for me! This Franciscan Ware pattern is the one my grandmother and mother used. I have several pieces of it (including a turkey gravy bowl!). The lace doily under it seems to perfectly fitting.
