getting down(ton) with textures ...

I truly enjoy Downton Abbey, as I do a good many BBC shows (Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch - OMG!) so when the very generous and talented Kim Klassen issued her latest group of textures as the Downton Collection there was no way I wasn't going to find something to apply it to. I've decided to work through the many snow pictures I took over the weekend, particularly since I'm hesitant to go out and collect muddy pictures just to have something to apply more texture to.

[Nikkor 18-135 mm, 66 mm, ISO 320, f/9, ss 1/100, Topaz Adjust detailed, Kim Klassen Downton Collection, Mary multiplied]

[Nikkor 18-135mm, 95 mm, ISO 1000, f/9, ss 1/160, Topaz Adjust detailed, Pioneer Woman Quick Edge Burn,
Kim Klassen Downton Collection Mary, multiply, overlay]

[Nikkor 18-135, 135 mm, iSO 320, f/5.6, ss 1/100, Black/White, Pioneer Woman 70s, Topaz Adjust detailed]

This one didn't get the Downton treatment, but I figured I might as well throw it in the mix to round out my snow pictures.  It was inspired by Deanna's header snow-blow shot, but I'm on the rail about the (lack of) crop - tempted to crop in more.

I do like to see images like this that have been turned into personalized works of art. For sure there are occasions where a SOOC is best, but I think of my camera mostly as one tool to help achieve the artist's vision so, I'm happy to see shots that have been transformed by software, or any other media, into what you want them to be.

  3. The textures are perfect for those shots.

I think my favorite is the last one, though. Great capture.

  10. These are wonderful! Your first is also my favorite. And, as you've so often done, you have in one single post, enabled me in two directions--Downton Abbey and Downton textures. I have Downton Abbey on my to-be-watched list, and now I'm going to google the textures. Thanks!
