Idle Time . . .

I LOVE Fall and today was a superb sampling of it. I love the crispness of the air with a subtle hint of cold that begs for the windows to be opened to air out the house before the cold is no longer subtle. I love the fragrance of McIntosh Apple or Pumpkin Spice candle melts inside the house that confirm summer is over.

After having a house of boys over night, by noon everyone had scattered to either a football game or to the Pumpkin Festival, leaving me to do what I live to do - decorate! Each year I tell myself I'll just put out a couple of pumpkins, or just one tree with a few Christmas bulbs, or maybe just an Easter Bunny or two.....and then I find myself with a little idle time and boxes of holiday decorations calling my name. I just can't help myself!

[a small portion of our tombstone collection
& just the tip of the iceberg of our Halloween decorations
...maybe there is a 12 step program for this?!]

  1. There IS a 12-step program! It is called having your kids grow up and no longer having any one to decorate for.... :-( On the other hand, my DD has inherited a lot of my Halloween decorations, and now my gds get to enjoy them!

  3. I do the same thing. I love how you've decorated the front lawn.

  4. I love your decorations! I keep saying the same thing, I'll just put out a few things this year, and it always morphs into a full-house decorating spree! LOL

But, the kids enjoy it so much, and they're only little once, right? :)

  5. I hope you don't find a 12 step program. It always brings such joy to decorate for the holidays.
