Timing . . .

While snapping a series of pictures out the window (through screen and a lot of winter dirt), I managed to capture something that I could not have caught if I tried on purpose. I started to throw away all the pictures from that spot because they were poorly exposed, but stopped myself on this one because apparently the goose in flight had just been goosed by the goose in action. Busted! Sometimes it is all about the timing. Which brings me to something that has been running through my mind - how many times as kids (or as adults) have we heard "why don't you take a picture, it'll last longer!" You know what, its true - it does, it cements that very moment / action / expression for all of eternity. Which leads me to the expression - "be careful or your face will freeze like that" - if photographed, it could. I have no idea why these two thoughts occurred to me, maybe it was from a dirty look from a kid/cat/goose .... I get them all the time and guess what - when I have a camera in hand, I photograph them. In fact, I have oodles of blackmail, er, I mean, humorous shots to serve me for years and years.

  2. Very neat! It actually almost looks like it could be watercolor! Maybe it looks that way to me because I took my kids to the art museum yesterday... :-)

  3. Way to get a great accidental shot. Love your thoughts about the long-lasting nature of photographs, too. And some of the shots of me where my face did freeze like that are not appealing at all! :) That's why I like to spend most of my time on the other side of the lens. :)
