Friday evening the grocer had a sad little bunch of purple tulips on sale for 75 cents -
a proposition that left my husband torn between the excitement of a good deal and simply feeling sorry for them.
Handing them over he admitted they didn't have much time left - but here we are on Thursday and 2 are still with us. Who hasn't felt like like these tulips - just when you felt you were circling the drain, you got your second wind.
Personally, I'm hoping for a 2nd, 3rd, and perhaps 4th wind over the next few weeks months because one thing I've realized is that time does not always play nice. One child graduating only to take off immediately on a summer tour of trips, another to complete her study in Japan requiring return logistics and then back to college arrangements. And. I've gone back to work part-time temporarily with the goal to find full time work. Time.
All of this will work out - it always does;
maybe not as planned, but it always does.
maybe not as planned, but it always does.

Time does fly. Savoring it is a challenge but also a joy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good word picture! Blessings to you on all the fullness your summer holds!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautful photo! I love the light and the perspective (both in photo and words!) I have been fascinated with the "underside" of tulips this year...and this photo sure does feed my obsession! I feel like an artist has taken a brush and painted each petal!
ReplyDeleteIf you go through a difficult time one wishes time would fly but at the moment I need 48 hours in a day ;)
ReplyDeleteAbout your Tulips, It's like giving humans the benefit of the doubt, they always seem to surprise you beyond your expectations.
Hang in there, it will all work out!
I love how the light shines through the bottom of the tulips! Great job.
ReplyDeletePoor tulips, but they have aged gracefully. Good luck piloting all that time in the next few months.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photo ~ very creative for Little Things ~ xoxo

It is so hard to savor time in the midst of challenges and logistics. Always worth the fight for the savor though. We can always enjoy the time no matter how brief. Lovely thoughts!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo. Great lighting and perspective. Love your thoughts on Time as well!
ReplyDeleteCool photo. Tulips always looks good, even when they are on their second wind.
ReplyDeleteYes, things have a way of working themselves out, maybe not as what you envisioned, but somehow it all ends up OK - thanks for the reminder there.
Love your rescued tulips! Yes, time flies. I had never seen that quote, but it's a good one.
ReplyDeleteIt will all work out ... it always does. We just too often don't allow ourselves to remember that. The sad little tulips are really beautiful! And so is life.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...it always DOES work out...These "sad" little tulips are really little gems Nicki. Great quote.
ReplyDeleteNot often do I see a capture of tulips with a mysterious mood - this is beautiful! Yeah, I could use a second wind too right now, having for a week "decluttered" the house, and tomorrow the beginning of the sale!
ReplyDeleteOh yes lot's of changes going on at your house. Those kids, once we let them soar they never come back full time, which is probably a good thing.
