from a distance | song*ography ...

From a distance you look like my friend,
even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend what all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
And it's the hope of hopes,
it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of every man.

From a Distance | Bette Midler

I am at a loss with perpetual news of terrorism, hostility, war.
Why is the concept of live and let live, or treat others as you would have them treat you so hard?

  2. I agree with Tamar, and I too question these things.

  3. we are all on the same page, you summed it up beautifully!! my mind is simplistic and i don't understand why life is so hard, so cruel. i am at the point of not watching the news, living in a "i don't want to know, cause there is nothing i can do, nothing i can change" state of mind!! that's sad....

many thanks for the super kind comment you left for me about my memory jar!!

  4. The million dollar question for which there may never be an answer. Perfect image for this!

  5. I'm so with you on this. We never learn.

  6. I kinda leaned the same way in my post today.

  7. I am in agreement with you. I am at a loss as well. I think it is easier to expect that other people agree with us (since we are, after all the ones in the right) than it is to expect that we should agree with them.

  8. So true. You are never going to change anyone with hostility. Love this image.

  9. Yup. And the more we learn about each other, the less afraid {and, perhaps hostile} we will be.

  10. I have to admit, the news of last week certainly make the message of "From a Distance" much more poignant than I had originally intended when choosing it. It put words, and now photographs, into mind when viewing our current state of events. Thank you for joining in at Song-ography. Hopefully next week's song will be a bit more uplifting :)
