twas the night before | black and white Wednesday ...

~
This is the song my younger brother and I would sing,
spinning around in the large swivel rocker in the front living room,
effectively staying out of mom's hair as she frantically pulled together last minute Christmas,
killing time till the big guy in red showed up.
Each Christmas eve.
(at least up to the point the two of us could not longer fit in the swivel chair together)

We were a tad on the ornery side (especially when together),
still it never occurred to us that Santa might not pay us a visit.
Faith.  Belief. Trust.

Wishing you a day filled with smiles, faith, and love;
for if you have that, you have been gifted richly.

  3. So true on trusting Santa would show up. I'm not sure any of my kids were ever on the naughty list. :) Merry Christmas.

  5. What a sweet memory, Nicki! I was just telling my family today that I really missed traditional carols being sung on the radio. I like all kinds of Christmas music, but sometimes, you want to hear an old-fashioned version of Silent Night, or O Lilttle Town of Bethlehem . . . something that hasn't been turned into a rock version. I had the biggest surprise of my life today when David showed up in the middle of the night and was there when I came down this morning. I'll post on my blog about this in the next couple of days. It's been a wonderful, if hectic Christmas for us! I hope yours was just as lovely!
