Out of the mouth of babes . . .

When the kids were younger and we would travel to Charleston to visit their cousins, we would pass the John Amos plant. The Girl would brighten up and announce that we were almost there because we were passing the coffee and cigarettes. Huh!?!? You know - the big coffee and cigarettes!

Mind you, neither my husband or I drank coffee nor did we smoke, so how she could come to this visual association of the chimneys still baffles me. I have to admit she had a point - from a distance (further than when we passed them on our way to Ohio), they resemble a steamy cup of coffee and a couple of lit cigarettes. There are some other observations our little girl made without parental reference that I'll have to share some other time (a preschooler's take on religion), but we'll leave it at the coffee and cigarettes for now.

  1. That is so funny! You never know what's going on in a little one's creative mind. I can see where she made the association, though.

  2. Coffee and cigarettes, that is too funny, and makes sense! I like the angles on these shots.

  3. It sure does look like that. We live close to the Zimmer plant near Cinci.

  4. I think she was right on! And I bet you could blame tv for that association, that's what I do! ;)

  5. Out of the mouths of babes! Too cute. What an observant, creative mind. Thank you so much for the nice comments about Mallory's pictures. You completely brightened what has been kind of a yucky day!!

  6. Margaret took the words right out of my mouth! When a friend of mine quit smoking, her teenage daughter said to her: "When I was little I thought all mothers were supposed to smell like that." Yikes! My friend has not smoked for 10 years now.

  7. I love it when a child lets you in on what they are thinking. Funny.

  8. Too funny - but so right - they do look like a mug of coffee and some standing cigarettes!
