My husband recently gifted me with an upgrade in our iPhoto program on the MAC. I haven't really played with any of its advancements compared to our prehistoric version except to label faces. Last March our beloved MAC had a HD melt-down that required a new drive and retrieving all of our data from the off-site back-up company. We sighed a great relief to find everything was there. And then we realized EVERYTHING was there. This is wonderful in terms of documents and programs. Less so with pictures. And before you say - "what the ???" Understand that it meant every version of every picture we had taken since 2000. Yepers, every single modification. So when they came back it quadrupled in the number of pictures I would have to weed through. I eventually got them sorted into "events", but have yet to delete all the duplicates of duplicates x3. I also learned along the way that when I had been "deleting" pictures - I really had not deleted them. Holy cow organization nightmare. Well now I am tagging faces. Every face. Strangers in the crowd from Disney faces. Ornament faces. Artwork faces. Statue faces. Taxi passing with poster of someone faces. Faces Faces Faces. But its soothing and entertaining at the same time. The task is not difficult and it is funny to see who the program will suggest as the label. A girl with a hat is questioned as being the rouge boy from down the street. The TKD master's name given for a cherub ornament. I have over 20,000 faces remaining to tag and suspect it will take care of many many hours of winter doldrums. In the mean time, I'll post some pictures of the Boy from Christmas day. My sister-in-law shared that she had enjoyed the ornament pictures from December, but it was time for some 'people' shots. I couldn't agree more. So this year one of my photography goals is to do more 'people' shots and improve my skills in that area. Even when I am happy with my shot, I get frustrated with the processing and often see too much red in the skin tones. This game of photography is a tricky one.
Oh my! Organizational nightmare is right! I've never played around with tagging faces (although PSE asked me yesterday who the oranges were in the bowl I'd photographed - LOL!), but it must be fun to do it and then see how the program responds. As for your pictures today, I just love the first one. It's so sharp and the colors are fantastic! You have one handsome Boy there!
ReplyDeleteWowee! Well that's sort of a comfort and a nightmare at the exact same time, isn't it? Very sweet on the pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot.
ReplyDeleteI get a laugh out of some of the tags I get suggested too!
He is handsome. I just can't figure out how these kids get their hair to stay like that?!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine the headache of all those duplicates! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI went through a similar situation with restoring files - so I understand the project. It's good to have that backup though!
ReplyDeleteYour son's portraits are great! The color of his hair is beautiful.
He's so handsome. I don't have a MAC, otherwise I'd certainly come up with some inappropriate names for random faces. ;)
ReplyDeleteOrganizational nightmare for sure. Uh wow on the beautiful eyes. Such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nightmare for sure! Great photos though! Love the rich colors.
ReplyDeletePSE asks me too from time to time who is who and it comes up with funny suggestions!! Great shots of your handsome boy!
