Thankfully its Thursday . . .

The kids had their last final on Monday. Tuesday was a scheduled day out of school for students so that the teachers could do what ever it is that teachers do when the kids aren't there. (I suspect it is more than tallying grades). Wednesday the high school was to have a 3 hour delay and the students would return to start their new semester with new schedules. Had mother-nature not intervened, I am thinking that might have been a slightly crazy day (they also flip the schedule on delay days). In any event, we had ice and snow and teenagers across the county did what teenagers do best - sleep. And all chaos was averted.

While I was sitting at the computer I looked outside at one of the patio tables, regretting that I had never gotten around to covering all of them as in previous years. And the more I looked at that table topped with snow, the more I thought up ways to photograph around it. A snow-globe in the snow. Genius! A hand-blown glass snowman in the snow. Brilliant! So while those teenagers slept all snug in their beds, I gathered my camera and subjects and proceeded out into the pouring snow. Snow can pour right? And then the snow started slowing down. The huge flakes became tiny specks. And then it stopped. The curse of photography! Sure, it would start pouring later after I was inside, but not wanting to foil the kid's potential for an extra snow day by bring the snow to a stop again, I forewent a second attempt.

So - to be completely honest - some of the snow in my pictures was added in later. The huge globs and weirdly shaped ones - they are the real deal, but some of the itty-bitty tiny specks - photoshop.



And thankfully it is now Thursday, another snow day. Hopefully I will be dragging kids out for pictures today because tomorrow they truly need to go back to school.
