la famiglia . . .

To commemorate my daughter's 18th birthday I treated myself to a family tree charm.
Not an unreasonable act of charity given that I was key to the 'birth(ing)' portion of her Birthday,
and for all those days since when she leaves me completely frazzled
and wondering what was I thinking.
Now before there is a collective gasp, please know that I don't regret it for a minute
- not for a second.
In fact, I'd do it all again in a heart beat.
Its just that every moment of raising a family
doesn't exactly make for a Norman Rockwell portrait.

Speaking of the Girl - we have a dress!
Yes, after sleepless nights, screaming, yelling, internet searching, miles of travel up and down the road between the local dress shops
--- we HAVE a prom dress!
Coral / orangish and simply stunning on her.

I'm beginning to think that in order to fully relish the winning/celebratory moments,
you must first suffer a fair share of those head-banging, hair pulling moments.

  1. Very cool shot of a beautiful necklace!

  2. That's a beautiful necklace! A much-deserved treat for you.

  3. GREAT shot, Nicki, love the focus & DOF.
Glad your daughter found a dress that you are both happy with. :)

  4. What a beautiful charm! Glad you found "the" dress!! :)

I like the DoF in this one - it really emphasizes the charm.
