no rest for the weary . . .

this crazy ride called "College Search" is coming to an end and surprisingly enough, getting to the finish line is not any easier than qualifying to run the race. The only consistency is that it is a race - a constant ticking clock hanging over your head every step of the way.

and along the lines of having something hang over your head - I think a few teachers missed the word-of-the-day: BREAK - as in "to stop activity temporarily", "a gap, interval, or rest." The kids are technically on Spring Break this week - but trust me, there will be no rest for the weary.

  1. Nice focus and DOF on the pencil. It seems like it is never ending doesn't it?

  2. I love this shot! And the pencil fits with your comments about FAFSA as well as the college search! When do you hear from the schools? I hope the news is all good!

  3. Hello,
Thanks for visiting my blog. That is a coincidence that your mom went by Nippie. Actually, my Nippy is named for NIpper the RCA Victor dog and only because we liked that name. But it is funny how the universe brings those coincidences to us. I'm admiring your photos - you have some great close-ups. I love the way the light is hitting the pencil, very nice!

  4. Angela - Actually all school have responded - and she fortunately was only denied admittance to the 3 we expected (knew going in that it would take a divine act and alignment of stars to get admission to those schools). We have narrowed it down to 3 (Univ. of Chicago, Washington & Lee and Wellesley) and they couldn't be any more different from each other if they tried.

  6. Sounds familiar. I have 1 teacher who practically gave us a whole year's worth of work to do in 3 weeks!
