scavenger hunt Sunday - - -

can you believe it - we've made it through another scavenger hunt.

* simple *
immediately thought of the infant dish that belonged to my grandmother.

* grain *
spent a fair amount of time this week working on applying textures - including grain.

* bubbles *
I managed the bubbly fruit shot. second take. booyah!

* transportation *
I confess that I had to pull from the archives for this (lest I venture to the driveway and photograph a filthy dirty, pollen laden mini-suv - and since I've already stooped to photographing the bathroom sink for last week's hunt, I refuse to go lower).
Great thing about this bus - it is a soft-serve yogurt vendor at Disney.
Pretty and tasty.

* stitch *
a sample of my great-grandmother's needlepoint. Based on the number of items with needlepoint by my great-grandmother and grandmother, this was apparently a weekly activity. (I wouldn't be surprised if they cross-stitched their underwear)

    1. Megan it is pretty simple. clear class - better if flat edges (think small square vase) - but I used a small round glass. Pour in some 7up, Sprite, seltzer water (in my case - Serra Mist), run a skewer through your fruit and either clip it to the top of the glass container (or in my case - have your child hold it steady). I used card stock for background, one direct light from overhead lamp and my speedlight. I used a macro lens - but I think this could be achieved with a good low f/stop wide angle that lets you get in close. Once you submerge the fruit, it will start bubbling. For blow-by-blow instructions with pictures - check out Angela over at Mypixelatedoasis.blogspot.com - she was my inspiration on this one.
