Working in the yard the other day I came across the Insect Bar & Grill.
where all the cool butterflies hang out
as well as their buggy friends
and foes
I sorta stumbled upon the praying mantis taking down a little butterfly like a lion to a gazelle when my lens accident nudged the mantis to set the butterfly free. I'm sure the balance of the earth had a momentary hiccup because of this break in the 'circle-of-life' moment - but I've waited all summer to track down some cooperative butterflies and I'll be dang if it was only to witness carnage and other atrocities.
Beautiful photos and all lovely critters :-)
