Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize your neighborhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell
The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grisly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller
How poetic to quote 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson amid a jury finding that his production company was not responsible for his untimely death but the artist himself (with a little help I'm guessing from his physician/s).
So much talent. So many demons. Really sad!

Back in the day our Halloween decoration department consisted of paper/cardboard witches and skeletons with hinged limbs and perhaps a pumpkin or two (real not fake).
We were party animals and went all out.
Right!
When the calendar hits October, I immediately think of decorations as much as colorful foliage.
Over the years I have amassed a reasonable collection of Halloween decorations and at one time managed to have just about every room in the house accented for the occasion.
but as the kids got older, fewer and fewer items came out of the box.
This year, however, I've decided to pull it all out (pretty much) because it was never just about the kids.

I'm still not sure how I came to own pumpkin and witch squirters - but I do, so there!
Sunday the yard will be filled with tombstones and fake spider-webs.
Yep, darkness falls across the land
and the decorations come out
...
Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike
You know it's thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
(insert images of the monster dance not necessary - you know you're thinking it. you're welcome!)

ReplyDeleteThat's such a great song! Love your Halloween decorations. Halloween is such a fun holiday - no presents, no big meals to make, just lots of candy and cool decorations! xo
ReplyDeleteI miss having little ones to take trick-or-treating. Heck, I miss getting trick-or-treaters at the door (none here out in the sticks.) Love your colorful decorations.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicki, Oh the first capture and the poem did give medd goose pumps ... even more so, as I started to recognize Thriller ... These decorations are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove this song..loved MJ's music. I grew up with it. It really is a major loss to the music world, his fans...and to his family more importantly.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, the comments on your Random 5 didn't load for me, so I thought I'd drop you a line here in your previous blog. Halloween Rocks!!!
