song*ography ...

My life would suck without you
~CLAUDE KELLY / LUKASZ GOTTWALD/ MARTIN SANDBERG~
*performed by Kelly Clarkson*

Being with you
Is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn't miss you
...

*
I love you

*

*
I hate you

*

*
frankly, if I never saw you again, say for another year, I'd be just fine.

*

**
that's right - I'm talking about seasons.

I realize that today's song is a love tune
(in that Clarkson/Swift/Adele passive aggressive kinda way)
but as I didn't have any pictures of 'couples'
I scoured my library for something the stirs a similar passion
and then it hit me:
most of us post about how we long for, can't wait until, and romance about a season like a long lost love,
yet within weeks of being together we are totally over each other.

... and we're never getting back together ...

like, ever!

Personally, I am not sure I would like to live in a region that does not experience the joy and brutality of each season - even if it does make me a bit fickle.

My life would totally suck without the childish excitement at the first snow; the giddiness of spring crocus peeking out from under brown; the exhaustion you can only appreciate after unrelenting heat and humidity; and warming comfort aroused from the aroma of burning leaves and fireplaces.

  1. Funny and so true - especially the part about being totally over each other. Nice take on this week's song.

  2. Whew, glad you explained yourself, for a minute I thought you were talking to me ;)
Seems this past year I have embraced the changing of seasons to the fullest .
I am sure I have many other years before , perhaps this was just a really good year for me and I have been in the moments of each season.

  4. A great idea for today's somg and you found wonderful words . But I could live in a climate or a world where the month of November does not exist, it depresses me.

  7. Seasons are definitely wonderful. It is something that I have missed living in Texas. Nothing like where I grew up! Lovely shots

  8. I'm with you - every word. I love living somewhere we really experience the seasons....And it's true! We do get fickle as we long for what's next!

  9. Beautiful interpretation of the song and such wonderful photos to match the different seasons. I do live in an area where we experience all 4 seasons. It's great but I must say "winter" is not a favorite of mine but thankfully here is usually doesn't last all that long. Loving your shot of the deer though.

  10. Isn't that the truth? We always seem to want what we haven't got. Great photos and take on the lyrics. :)

  11. I love your take on this song because it is so true! We long for a season, get there, and then get over it just as quickly. Fickle, we are! Except that I don't feel that way this time of year. I want to hit the pause button. Winter, I get over the quickest. But I love that I live with seasons.

  17. Such a great post.. I lived in the desert where we only had 2 seasons. Summer and Winter. And summer was way too long.
