phoning it in | Random 5 ...

[iPhone:  bad hair gone good - Laguna, CA]

 Random:

 1) I am currently tackling each room to de-clutter. This almost doesn't count as "random" because I pretend to go through this process each year as if it were a required element in a sacrificial ritual.  The sad reality being that in the end, few things leave the house. But NOT.THIS.YEAR. BABY!  It's gotta go. I'm thinking it might be time to donate that box of "Hooked-On-Phonics" tapes and massive stack of books from elementary school book fairs to either the local school, a teacher friend, or the library.
As for the rest of it, I'm going with the "take a picture, it'll last longer" approach.

 2) In a flash we'll be looking at the last high school Spring Break. As far as I'm concerned, this year is happening too quickly.  As far as our Senior is concerned, it can't go fast enough.

3) There is a new outdoor cat in town. He/She is solid black, short hair, and likes to talk a lot. Ike is not amused.

4) I looked at my hair in the mirror yesterday and realized that this growing out process is looking similar to Dana Carvey's character in Wayne's World. #haircut #pronto

5) We can't complete a Random 5 without talking about the weather. This week we've had: snow, sleet, ice, rain, flooding, ice, and tomorrow ... snow. I think we might have even had a glimpse of the sun in there somewhere and managed to get near 60 degrees since last Friday (on which day people took to their shorts and t-shirts - ya'd swear it was a freaking tropical holiday). Awe, the randomness of Winter!

  4. It seems to be the season for decluttering...
    LOVE the photo!
It's my first Random 5, so lovely to 'meet' you in your randomness :)

  5. Our winter has been rather ho-hum. Definitely cold, not much otherwise. :)

  6. Nicki,

I have almost given up not mentioning the weather. I really don't want to, but it is a huge part of our life. I am glad to get out to do chores, but this cold makes for a long afternoon. We have not seen temps above zero since last Sunday.

Declutter is important. Even if you get rid of 3 things it is progress in small steps.

Hope you have a great weekend.

  7. time is flying by ... especially the older one gets. I had a new cat in the backyard this morning ... most distressing to the birds and my kitties. Stay warm!

  8. Good luck with the decluttering. I usually go in a flurry, but then I can't manage to keep it up. I'm having a hard time with my hair too, go back and forth between cutting it off and ignoring it until it grows out of it's 'phase.' Have a great weekend.

  9. No Wayne's World do! LOL! I love a good declutter here too, and I'm in desperate need of getting rid of things. It's a never ending process!

  10. I salute your de-cluttering. I need to do that ... badly. We've also had a little bit of everything this week, except for the flooding. We'll just have to soldier on.

  11. When you're done at your house, I have a place you can tackle. This year is speeding by, no matter what your teen thinks. Hope you get to see the sun for an extended period soon. It has been bright and sunny here for the last couple of days but frigid. I can handle frigid if the sun is shining.

  12. Love the hair photo. Yes that Senior year goes much to quickly. I hope it does next year when my daughter is a college senior. Scary for her but I will be happy to have her done.

  13. I keep saying I'm going from room to room - and sometimes I'll actually get a room done - but for me, it seems like a never ending process. Good luck!!

  14. You have had weather this week, that's for sure! I hope you enjoy all of the senior activities coming up. Those were fun years with so many memories of my kids and their friends.

  15. Oh my shorts and t-shirts now that is funny but with such odd weather you can't blame them for being excited. I know everyone is sick of talking about the weather but it does make for great conversation and photos. Decluttering is on our list come spring.
I hope the new kitty is excepted soon.

  16. I hate organizing. Hate it, hate it, hate it! But it must be done. Right now I think I need a bulldozer. I tried growing out my hair last summer. Until I saw a photo of myself. Ugh. Senior year is always bittersweet for Mothers. I wish winter would hurry up and go away. Hope you get things organized. If you have any tips, I need some....xo Karen

  17. That is the one good thing about living in an RV.. not a lot of room to be unorganized. My daughters last year of school flew by and has never stopped. Times flies my friend.

    Hugs~
