I ventured out this weekend hoping to find some flowers to photograph,
but as usual I got side tracked,
resorting instead to simply pull off the road and grab a handful of wildflowers/weeds.
It'll do!
It'll do!
Constantly on the go this summer, every time we passed an especially floral location I would make a mental note of the spot, telling myself I would come back later with a camera.
Pretending they would wait until I got back,
at the same time knowing they wouldn't.
I have no doubt that every photographer has battled the internal struggle with the urge to record everything for prosperity.
Finally accepting that getting to witness something it is good enough.
As for the flowers,
Finally accepting that getting to witness something it is good enough.
As for the flowers,
there is, after all, the next season just around the corner
with plenty more photo opportunities.

I truly do adore wildflowers - and this is such a gentle photo - the mood is warm with an ever-so-slight hint of sadness or nostalgia. The other day on my walk, I only had my iphone {if I took my big girl camera with me every time, I'd never actually get any exercise} and there was a little bird pulling the fluff out of a milkweed...it was the cutest thing! As I was watching, regretting my lack of good camera, I said...self, you can just enjoy this now and keep it as a memory. But it is hard! I always want to be recording those sweet moments!
ReplyDeleteI do know what you mean and yes, getting to witness has to be enough sometimes. Your photo is so lovely - I really like the sepia tones and soft focus. Maybe making the very best of what we have time to do is what really matters. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Nicki. Most times you have to do the best you can with what you have.
ReplyDeleteYes, I can't tell you how many times I have driven past something that I really wanted to photograph thinking I would come back, but nine out of ten times I never return. Beautiful capture of the wildflower and it works so well in sepia!!
