black.white.wednesday | homeward bound ...

We made a concerted effort to limit how much "stuff" traveled to New England for Allyson's final year at Wellesley. Year after year of retrieving "stuff" on top of "stuff", much of which hadn't been necessary, we were adamant and determined. Following the trip last August, we patted ourselves on the back and deemed it a success. Fast forward to graduation (cause time flies like that), do you see that little space in the rear of the Navigator?  That is the only space not accounted for other than the front window. Coming home we were packed like sardines. Who am I kidding, sardines have more wiggle room than we did. And this was after donating a TV stand, a deluxe mattress pad, and hours of calculation and contemplation on the best way to push and shove "stuff" into every nook and crany.

We officially SUCK at shipping a kid off to college efficiently.
They want for nothing while they are there.
They beg for mercy and more leg room coming and going.

By-the-way, Kiddo #2 is slumped down in the seat behind me
wanting no photographic evidence he was in any way associated with this mess.

  5. We had to take some items to Illinois for our granddaughter's wedding in addition to our luggage and the dogs. We were definitely packed, but had a lot more room coming home.

  6. Oh wow, is this what we have to look forward to when the kids go off to university?

  7. Ha! I remember tossing whatever wasn't absolutely necessary one year just to fit in the car. It's just the way it goes!

  8. Had to chuckle at this one. I remember our trips moving in and out of college situations. Evan was easier to pack than Carrie, because he is a man of few needs. However, he did recently move from one apartment to another in Worcester MA where he lives now and I was quite please that he did it while we were in North Carolina. It's good when they grow up and have reliable friends.

  9. Thank goodness you have a Navigator or you would really be in a bind. Thankfully we had two cars, but Mallory really had very little by the end, having brought stuff home at Christmas, Spring Break, and when she and I met up for a weekend in April. So glad the packing and traveling is done for a while though.
