Merry thoughts . . .

Today is the last day of school before the "Holiday Break", and I use that term loosely. The kids get a week and two days where they do not have to go to school. But do not fret, there will be no idle time. As an extra bonus this year, the teachers are one-uping each other with homework assignments, assignments created JUST FOR THE HOLIDAYS. So rather than enjoying time with family, or mindless festivities, my children will be doing homework such as reading a complete book and preparing an essay about it; surveying 25 strangers about Korea, and completing some sort of science project. Honestly, I am surprised there hasn't been a Christmas song written to represent the joy this brings to the holidays.

So instead of visions of sugar plums and candy sweets . . .

my kiddies have visions of .. .. ..

oh well, at least I don't have to pack lunches!

  2. Ha! Is that a little gumball tree? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Your kids visions probably aligns with my own kids, the boy is mad that he has to go to a math camp on monday. It's only an hour, and that's what he gets for being a math quiz!

  3. So sorry! A short break and school work on top of it?~ Grinchiness indeed. I feel sorry for your kids--no holiday at all, other than sleeping in late!

  4. Mmmm, candy! I make my kids (even the teen) listen to me read How the Grinch Stole Xmas and Twas the Night Before Xmas every Xmas eve. I love those! I refuse to watch the Jim Carey version.

  5. That used to get me so steamed when my kids were younger!!!!! Arrgh! Why? Why is this homework necessary? Kids need a break, and so do the parents! I'd be feeling Grinchy, too!

On a happier note, that gum drop tree is just delightful! I made gumball trees and wreaths a few years ago and I wish I had kept them. If this doesn't put a smile on your face, nothing does.

  8. VERY very yummy looking on that first picture! And sorry about the work - my daughter also has quite a bit of school work on her break. :-( I just don't see the point. Even ***I*** have a break and she doesn't. :-(

  9. Wow! And these don't even seem like easy assignments! I vote coal in the stocking of the teacher! (Unless it's a really, really, good book!) But interviewing 25 people???????????
