but wait, there's more . . .

the kids have finals this week so there will be no pictures of children for the time being.

I was on the phone last evening with my MIL discussing the difficulties she has had following a root-canal - a serious topic because she truly has been in pain. When across the room waltzes a cat carrying/pulling a balloon. Dumbfounded and amused, I tried to discretely end the conversation without sounding totally uninterested or dismissive, because if there was ever a 'must have photo' occasion - this was it. And the flash would NOT cooperate. And the metering was completely off. And putting it on Auto just sucked - but I even tried that. At any rate, I will never forget the sight - and here is a small sample. Try following a cat who is carrying a balloon around the house - attempting to both, get it photographed, and figure out what the crap is wrong with your camera. All at the same time. The entertainment factor between me and Ike even got MaryJo to get up from her slumber and see what all the commotion was about.

  1. Funny story. Glad you were able to capture it. Love seeing the pictures of your kitty. So cute. I may have to get myself a cat now that the kids are back in school. I need someone to photograph! :)

  6. That is so funny! Did you ever let on to your MIL what was distracting you? I'd love to know what was going through your kitty's head at the moment!

  7. I had a cat that use to go CRAZY for balloons. She wanted to move them all to a 'safe' location. Then she would almost babysit them. If one strayed far away - she would get it and bring it back to the safe place. Thank you for bringing that memory back!

  8. LOL! Boy, that's a lot of things to juggle at once: MIL's feelings, camera problems, an irresistible cat . . . ! I so love the way you write!

  10. That is too funny, I love when animals do unnaturally human things. He looks like he should be sitting in the park holding that balloon, like he just bought it from a vendor, lol.
