yes, I watched the Royal Wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
yes, I watched the Royal Wedding of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew.
and yes, I'll most likely watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry when that day comes.
My husband doesn't get it, which is fine, he isn't supposed to. But there is something very special about a Royal Wedding, a fairy tale come to life. I remember a visit to London, Buckingham Palace specifically, when I was in high school and all of us girls swore we saw Prince Charles look out the window. More likely not, but we were giddy with the thought that whoever did look out the window might actually be Prince Charles, so it ultimately didn't matter. There is no logical explanation for the stir of emotion, the giddiness aroused by the Royal Family and fortunately there doesn't have to be.
I have to admit to not really getting the whole wedding thing either. I was exclaiming to my daughter in surprise, "People are SLEEPING on the PAVEMENT to see it! Can you believe that?!?!?!?!?" and she told me, "They slept on the pavement for the ipad. Of course they're going to sleep on the pavement for this." I had to hand it to her...
