crops, or lack thereof . . .

As I've been weeding through pictures I've noticed a recurring item: barren fields. This particular shot was from our trip to Chicago where apparently I was compelled to photograph crop-less fields, several to be exact. I am drawn to them like a moth to the light, but once uploading to the computer, I pass them over like yesterday's dinner.

so I decided to lighten it up and move in a little closer.

and a little closer.

I think my attraction is the vastness of the fields with the homes and barns at the far end. I picture it differently in my mind, this romantic idea of farm life, where even after the crops have been harvested, the work is constant, and you have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. I don't know. Maybe I just get bored riding past field after field after field, after....

  1. Nice processing of these! It's amazing how much the color shifts as you zoom in closer. So, you like vastness? Boy, have I got some fields for you!
