There is no honor in terrorism.
There is no justification.
There is no righteousness,
only selfish arrogance.
Weak minds will always be weak
no matter how many insults, planes, bombs, or hatred they inflict upon others.
and the strong will only get stronger.
. . .
My thoughts and prayers go to those in Boston in the aftermath of yesterday's bombs.
My daughter, who volunteered for the marathon last year, chose instead to simply enjoy the runners as they proceeded through Wellesley and beyond the "scream tunnel" yesterday.
Wellesley College, ever vigilant and prompt to address parent concerns, notified us last evening that to their knowledge all students were okay and accounted for and had been encouraged to remain on campus.
But today,
despite this heinous act,
life will continue in America;
despite this heinous act,
life will continue in America;
businesses will re-open,
students will return to class,
and we will continue ...
students will return to class,
and we will continue ...
So glad your daughter is ok.
ReplyDeleteYour words speak volumns. A very thoughtful post.
There will always be misguided people that do bad things to the innocents. I'm glad your daughter is safe.
ReplyDeleteSuch truth in this, and love how you have illustrated the strength that will go on in spite of all....
ReplyDeleteWell said, Nicki. Glad your Daughter is OK and was not hurt yesterday.
ReplyDeleteKilling an eight year old child, or blowing off a bystander's legs will not make you a better person or your cause righteous.
ReplyDeleteWe may suffer, but you are the ones who have been humiliated by this display of inhumanity.
Scary situation...so glad your daughter is okay. They don't call Bostonians patriots for nothing...they will stand up and get back to business and their lives. Cowards never win.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your daughter is okay... I heard about it right after it happened and was shell shocked. I can't believe anybody would want to do that kind of thing!
ReplyDeleteThank youfor this, Nicki. Perfectly said.

I was thinking about you yesterday since I knew your daughter attended school in the Boston area. So glad she is safe. I know the Bostonians will grow stronger and more resolved after this awful event, but still there's no reason for such an act - like you've stated only selfish arrogance.
ReplyDeletewhat a great tragedy, indeed!
ReplyDeleteGlad your loved one is safe! This is always shakes my core. How? What drives a person to enjoy this sort of evil?
ReplyDeleteYour post gave me goose bumps. So hard to believe there is evil out there like this.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
We will continue on with our business and our families and our joy through tears of mourning because that simple act of continuing on is the very thing that takes our power back and prevents the evil person(s) who did this from having any lasting victory.
ReplyDeleteI thought of your daughter yesterday and actually thought she might be watching the race. So glad she is safe and sound!
Oh my goodness, I am sure your worries were at high-peak when you heard the news. So happy to hear that your daughter and all students were safe. Thank you for this really touching post.
ReplyDeleteYes, we will continue. Glad your daughter was not at the site. Must have been scary for you.
ReplyDeleteGlad your daughter is ok.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we'll ever understand these evil acts. We just need to hold our loved ones close. Things can change in a second.
I'm glad to hear your daughter is all right! Very scary indeed! I hope the authorities get to the bottom of this senseless act. And I also hope we learn to identify what causes terrorists to do the terrible things they do.
ReplyDeleteI can only image how you were feeling yesterday but so glad she and the other students are OK. Such a senseless act of violence that leaves us all more determined to protect and hold close those dearest to us.....My heart just grieves for the families who lost or had someone injured in yet another horrible attack on our country...
ReplyDeletemy thoughts and prayers are with everyone there.
ReplyDeleteYes, we will continue. Lovely thoughts, awesome photos of Boston. My prayers are with all those affected.
