a hint of things to come ...

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth,
for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home.”
                               ~Edith Sitwell

Yesterday morning it was all about winter.

every deliciously exciting morsel

but by the afternoon
the skies gave in
revealing that Autumn is not over yet.

  4. I can still hold out hope for a little fall here, but definitely NOT this....That first shot, like a black and white but kissed with a hint of fall and the green is just breathtaking, and I remember your second shot from the other day, what a difference a couple of days makes! Of course it's pretty cold here this morning, 37, and now I'm worried about the twelve chrysalis that won't emerge for another week or so (they're inside), because it has to be about 50-55 for them to be able to warm their flying muscles to fly!!

  9. I have to say the snow we had here with the leaves still on the trees was beautiful, but I'm not in the mood for winter, yet. These photos are beautiful, the blue sky a plus!

  14. Oo, I really like that last shot! Very unusual! I love the quote you use on top - at least I love the ideas it embodies, although, alas, sometimes it's hard to find time to sit by the fire.
