these are days | song*ography ...

... days you'll remember

 Never before and never since,
I promise,
will the whole world be warm as this.
 And as you feel it,
you'll know it's true
that you are blessed and lucky.

"These are Days" | 10,000 Maniacs
(give or take a maniac)

In a world that seems to be spinning out of control;
awake at 3 a.m. because you can't stop thinking
you hesitate to read the news,
or look at your bank account,
or try to understand the lyrics on the radio
you wonder

it pays to take a walk
look around and take a deep breath
and realize
the sun came up, the sun went down
one season came and went with another upon us
and you witnessed, experienced, and survived it all

know that you are
blessed and lucky!

Linking up with

  1. Such gorgeous light in the second photo, Nicki! And I agree, taking a walk can help clear ones head and help you appreciate it all!

  2. Brilliant insights my friend. And I can literally FEEL the warm glow of autumn in these shots. Fantastic. Thanks for joining in at Song-ography.

  3. I love how you were able to shake the perspective back into yourself with a walk and photographs. That is so needed when things start to take over the mind. These are beautiful.

  4. Such true thoughts on the world and the fact that while it's not perfect we still live in it and can enjoy all it's beauty if we take the time to do so. - Loved both these photos. The lighting was so lovely.

  5. It's so true. If you let the news completely color your world, you wouldn't get out of bed in the morning. But there is more to life than that. We should be grateful for what we have.

  6. Your angle on the fences is so appealing. You're right -- so much is wrong, but in autumn, nature speaks of peace, continuity, beauty. We are blessed!

  7. That second shot really has a autumnal feel to it, with those browny orange tones
