little.things.thursday | bewitched ...

Allyson and I decided to journey to Salem, MA to check it off the bucket list (or as my husband would say, "to reconnect with our ancestry". I'm telling ya, the man is one snarky remark away from being a toad!)
Anyhoo, we arrived by train, got off and saw this:

With no clearly marked signs to "Historic Salem", or "go this way to all the witch stuff" - we, of course, went the wrong direction. Fortunately it wasn't long before we realized we were not where we wanted to be, (daughter is a great compass - me, not so much) and I confirmed this by asking a passing lady.  She could not have been nicer if she had been a paid tour guide because no sooner had I asked what street was intersecting with the one we were on that she smiled and said,  "Follow me, I'm walking to work in the area you are interested in." Super Wicked nice!.

So, as I was saying, Allyson and I decided to visit Salem, and the moment I spotted this statute in honor of Samantha Stevens from Bewitched I knew we had arrived. If our visit had ended at that spot I would have been amply satisfied and considered it well worth the three train rides.  But despite most of the locations (museums, tour guides, etc) not re-opening until April 1st, we still had an amazing day.  So worth it.

  1. I've never done the salem "thing" - I've been there for work or to visit friends...but never toured around. Will have to get to that one day! Love this statue!!

  2. I've been to Salem a few times over the years and have always enjoyed it. Hope you were able to get to the Peabody Essex Museum. It's wonderful! And I hope the weather was okay. It has been hit or miss this spring up here.

  3. At least Samantha was a bit lighter version of the witchcraft than what was accused of women in Salem!

  8. LOL-ing at your husband's comment. Pretty clever. Of course, you should still turn him in to a toad if he keeps it up. Salem sounds like a fun outing. And I loved Bewitched!

  10. Gosh - look at all the white stuff in the background - ahem, sorry, great statue! :D I guess I am still in winter mode like the attractions in Salem. You know, I have never seen Bewitched.
